Mr. Devendra Banhart is the second most prolific, strangely forenamed and generally good-looking young folk artist (after the Confabulators’ favorite banjoist/flautist Sufjan Stevens, of course). Coincidentally, he also has a new album coming out on September 13th through Young God Records. Entitled Cripple Crow, it comes hot on the heels of his two highly acclaimed and successful 2004 albums, Rejoicing in the Hands and Nino Rojo.

Unfortunately, the word on the street seems to be that there will not be a duet with Devendra’s good friend R. Kelly on this album. Perhaps on his next album (tentatively titled NR.2 Reloaded, and featuring a five-part “Trapped in Vetiver” indie opera about a backstage tryst with Joanna Newsom.)
